John Olsen, a current VFC member, is a retired commercial pilot. He and his wife, Anne, are fulfilling a wish to give back to the aviation community by recognizing the relationship between pilot and mechanic. Through their generosity, the Vernon Flying Club is pleased to award $500 to a student from both the spring and fall graduating classes of Okanagan College AMT program.
The 2020 spring graduating class winner of the John Olsen Scholarship is Jared Torgrimson. At 20 years of age, Jared is looking forward to excelling in the maintenance side of the aviation industry. He does not want to stop there though. By his 30th birthday, Jared hopes to be working on his commerical license with an eye towards helicopters which were what initially drew him to a career in aviation.
Good Luck Jared!
