Art Ratte is a UBC grad (Mineral Engineering 1973). His career has taken him from Ontario, Port Hardy, Papua New Guinea, Chile & San Francisco. He retired in Vernon in 2003. His work involved flights in numerous small aircraft to remote mine sites.
Art earned his pilots license in 1976 in Northern Ontario. After not flying for several years, and while working in Chile, he bought a Cessna 172, and imported that aircraft to Chile. That acquisition was in 1993.
Once located back in Canada (2000), he purchased a Grumman AN, and flew it while he was building a LANCAIR Legacy FG. That project was finished in 2009. At this writing (2023) he has it hangared in Vernon.
When not flying, Art keeps busy with golf, skiing, and enjoys tennis & pickleball.
